The Vision

The BBFI Mission Office is building upon the dreams and ideas of previous Mission Directors. This is possible because of their advanced vision and planning.
The vision was to relocate the Mission Office to a site where there would be space to build a new office facility as well as retirement housing for missionaries.

The results of an informal survey with various missionaries identified Springfield, MO as the desired location for these reasons.

• Both hospital systems in Springfield accept our medical plan
• Many missionaries are established with doctors in Springfield
• Commerce Bank in Springfield is used by all our missionaries
• The Mission Office would remain in Springfield and close to BBC
• There are many local churches for our missionaries to attend and serve

Mission Office investments that were made years ago performed well in 2021 to the point that it became financially possible to move forward with the vision.

Discussions were initiated with current BBFI executive officers resulting in unanimous expressions of excitement and support for the project – especially for the retired missionary housing.
The Fellowship responded with a unanimous approval at our National Meeting in May 2022 to move forward.

Recognizing the blessings of God, it was decided to gift the current Mission Office building to Baptist Bible College for the enhancementof their campus.

Although the new property for the Mission Office and housing will be 15 minutes away, it will allow for involvement on the campus of BBC in chapel,
in mission classes, leading missions emphasis days as well as teaching some mission courses.

Benefits for the Missionaries

• Fulfills a need for our aging missionary force
• Currently there are 36 couples and 38 singles who are retired
• Many more are at or approaching retirement age
• Some are living in retirement housing managed by other organizations
• The Mission Office has been asked if there is housing similar to what other organizations provide for retirees.
• Candidates sometimes ask about what life looks like after retirement in the BBFI. Is there anything for those who retire?
• This will help with missionary retention. If these homes are a possibility, some may stay on the field until retirement age knowing something could be available instead of resigning to find a way to retire.
• This project is something very meaningful for our missionaries.

Benefits for the Missions Office

• New facility would generate excitement overall and enhance our recruitment efforts
• Cost-saving and functionality of a smaller building
• More practical and efficient for our staff
• Current building was originally designed as an auditorium – resulting in unusable space
• It would be close to missionary housing which would make it easier to:
     • Assist with occupancy decisions
     • Assist with maintenance
     • Assist missionaries when needed

The Goal

• Break ground in September 2022
• Start building in October 2022
• Project completion in April 2024
